El Paso Recognized as Best in the Nation

El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Business Leaders & Chamber took center stage at this year’s United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) 31st Annual Convention and Business Expo held last week!

“Although there were multiple awards throughout the entire convention, there was not a city that had as many awards as El Paso.  All are to be congratulated and we will make sure that the WORLD knows about the accomplishments of our winners” said Janet Aguilar, Chair of the Board of the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Vice President of Wells Fargo Insurance Services USA, Inc.

Each year the USHCC presents the most prestigious awards in the nation to extraordinary and visionary Hispanic chambers, businessmen and women, as well as corporate and government advocates, who have contributed to and demonstrated exemplary excellence and leadership in business. The awards pay tribute to the unparalleled achievements and innovations that havesignificantly empowered the U.S. Hispanic community, the nation’s largest and fastest growing minority group.

A total of seven awards were given to El Paso business leaders and the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.  Among the award winners were Fred Loya, owner and Chairman Emeritus of Fred Loya Insurance who was honored as the Hispanic Business Man of the Year; Irma Bocanegra, AT&T:  USHCC Corporate Advocate of the Year; Terri Garcia, Bank of America:  Ultimate Latina – Financial Services; Cynthia Deharo, ReadyOne Industries:  Ultimate Latina – Non-Profit/Philanthropy; Cindy Ramos-Davidson:  USHCC #1 Chamber Executive of the Year (for the 3rd Consecutive year);  and the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce:  USHCC #1 Large Chamber of the Year.

“El Paso business is booming, and it’s crucial to our economic growth that we honor the leaders ofour business community.  We are immensely elated and extremely proud of all our

Last week the USHCC hosted its National Convention and Business Expo, in Dallas Texas, featuring hundreds of exhibitors from the United States and abroad. USHCC requests nominations for various awards from Hispanic Chambers around the country.  Fred Loya, Irma Bocanegra, Terri Garcia, and Cynthia Deharo were all nominated by your El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

The convention is the country’s largest networking venue for Hispanic businesses and Fortune 1000 corporations interested in the Hispanic market.  Over four-days, the national convention affords Hispanic vendors and corporate buyers the opportunity to establish partnershipswhere business opportunities can flourish. In addition, the convention offers various sessions and discussions on business development, chamber training, innovative business trends and solutions, as well as a focus on current issues that impact the Hispanic entrepreneur.

Since its inception, the USHCC has worked towards bringing the issues and concerns of the nation’s almost 3 million Hispanic-owned businesses to the forefront of the national economic agenda. Throughout its nearly 30-year history, the Chamber has enjoyed outstanding working relationships with international Heads of State, Members of Congress and the current White House Administration. Through its network of more than 200 local Hispanic Chambers of Commerce and Hispanic business organizations, the USHCC effectively communicates the needs and potential of Hispanic enterprise to the public and private sector in several ways.

The El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce serves as a vital resource connection for the small minority, women and disadvantaged business community – and for the past 19 years, it has served as the primary catalyst to bring regional coordination and synergy to local minority business development.
