JOB FAMILY SUMMARY PURPOSE

Under the general direction of the Manager of Infrastructure Initiatives, is responsible for various project management and process improvements, including creating and executing work plans, project schedules, identifying resource requirements, writing business case reports, management of daily project operations, project budget and close-out, and other duties as assigned and deemed important by the Manager.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Manage assigned projects and tasks, including creating and executing work plans, project schedules, identifying resource requirements, management of daily project operations, and project budget and close-out.
  2. Conduct process improvement-related work, including analysis, planning, execution, monitoring, and presentation and reporting.
  3. Conduct project financial analyses, business case and strategic plan development, and costs/benefits evaluation practices and procedures.
  4. Monitor and perform feasibility studies and develop recommendations on company initiatives.
  5. Perform due diligence reviews on industry opportunities.
  6. Manage and execute projects from initiation to closing.
  7. Assess and document status quo conditions and to ascertain and recommend actions for process improvement.
  8. Identify, quantify and present risks, costs and benefits associated with projects and issues.
  9. Complies with all applicable Company policies, procedures and code of ethics as well as all applicable governmental laws and regulations to include employment, safety and environmental standards and regulations. 
  10. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  11. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with officers, managers, fellow employees, and the general public.
  12. Maintain a strong sense of propriety concerning confidential matters.
  13. Availability to work irregular hours and to travel as needed.
  14. Perform other related tasks that are not included, but are within the context of the duties defined.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  1. Experience in project management, including creating and executing work plans, project schedules, identifying resource requirements, management of daily project operations, and project budget and close-out.
  2. Experience in process improvement-related work, including analysis, planning, execution, monitoring, and presentation and reporting.
  3. Knowledge of electric utility system principles and practices, operations, and applicable rules and regulations.
  4. Knowledge of project financial analyses, business case and strategic plan development, and costs/benefits evaluation practices and procedures.
  5. Ability to manage and execute projects from initiation to closing.
  6. Ability to assess and document status quo conditions and to ascertain and recommend actions for process improvement.
  7. Ability to support the Company’s project management and oversight activities related to infrastructure projects and other projects as assigned.
  8. Ability to identify, quantify and present risks, costs and benefits associated with projects, and issues.
  9. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project and Visio.
  10. Knowledge in various reporting, and budgeting processes.
  11. Strong organizational, communication (verbal and written), and presentation skills.
  12. Ability to generate credibility with and to present information to management regarding solutions to complex issues.
  13. Ability to effectively manage several tasks at the same time.

ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

The incumbents in this classification are subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions and temperature changes of extreme cold weather (below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour) and extreme hot weather (temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour); and are exposed to loud noises, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions and oils.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  1. Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently, or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  2. Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  3. Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks.
  4. Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  5. Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
  6. Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.
  7. Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  8. Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities in which detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly.
  9. Hearing: Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.
  10. Repetitive motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  11. Visual acuity: Color, depth perception and field of vision to include measurement devices for close inspection and analysis.
